The action of the components of ESOPHAGEL:
- Hyaluronic acid is part of the protective layer of the esophagus and protects the mucous membrane of the esophagus from the negative effects of acidic gastric contents when it is thrown (reflux) into the esophagus.
- Sodium alginate is produced mainly from brown or red algae. Just like hyaluronic acid, it protects the mucous membrane of the esophagus. In addition, alginate prolongs the presence of ESOPHAGEl on the surface of the esophageal epithelium. The fact is that the esophagus is designed for the rapid passage of food from the mouth into the stomach, respectively, drugs in the esophagus are only a few seconds and do not have time to have a therapeutic effect. That is why sodium alginate, a mucoadhesive biopolymer, has been added to the composition of ESOPHAGEl, which prolongs the drug's stay in the esophagus for up to 8 hours due to adhesion (attachment) to the mucous membrane. Alginate also forms an anti-reflux barrier on the surface of the gastric contents, preventing gastroesophageal reflux.
- Magnesium and aluminum hydroxides are so-called non-absorbable antacids: they neutralize the acidic contents of the stomach on its surface and in the lumen of the esophagus. In addition, these components envelop the mucous membrane of the esophagus and stomach, protecting it from the effects of hydrochloric acid and pepsin.
ESOPHAGEL has a rapid effect (3-5 minutes after ingestion) on the main symptom of GERD – heartburn. In addition, ESOPHAGEAL prevents regurgitation (throwing stomach contents into the pharynx), especially at night.
It is necessary to take ESOPHAGEL 4 times a day for 10 ml (2 teaspoons): 3 times an hour after main meals and once at night, just before bedtime – to prevent night reflux.
The course duration is 30 days. In the future, based on the experience of using the drug, ESOPHAGEL is taken only at night – for several months.
